In actual fact it is not referred to as a "pink slip"
anymore.
This now obsolete term references the colour
of the form that allowed your car to travel on
the roads for another year. The system was
deemed to be excessively difficult for customers
to use, so it ha snow been replaced by the
"e-Safety Check". This system has several key features:
It is entirely electronic.
Information is input into a central data base from
an authorised inspection outlet
You can search for outlets online
New cars and light trucks will be exempt from
required one for five years
Registration will now be able to be paid 3, 6 or 12
monthly
Utes and vans are now exempt for their first five
years on the road
Overall the whole system has been massively re
worked so that it is easier than ever to have your
vehicle checked and re registered.
The "e-Safety Check" as it is now known need not be a
huge problem. The key is to make sure your car is always
properly maintained. Your authorised mechanic will know
all the things that need to be looked at but there are
simple things to keep in mind:
Your tyres should have a legal amount of grip
There should be no oil leaks
Your vehicle should have a sound body
Your vehicle should not exceed certain levels of emissions
and noise
The key is that if you see anything unusual, get it checked
out immediately. This will save you money long term.
The "Pink Slip" and your car
The "pink slip" system is designed to ensure that only
suitably roadworthy vehicles make it onto New South Wales
roads. Since problems with vehicles such as faulty brakes can
lead to accidents, and lower emissions are in everyone"s best
interests, the system is an idea that is bound to catch on in
other states. Look after your car and it will be a fairly simple
process.
To book in for a Pinkslip simply give us a Call or just drop in
and one of our authorised staff will be able to help you, in some
cases you will be able to wait around for your inspection to be
completed.
